WE’RE CUT FROM A CUTTING-EDGE CLOTH

Ulterion® is a leader in sustainable and highly-functional water-dispersible polyesters, as well as many other innovations for use in textile manufacturing, dyeing and finishing. We’ve invested heavily in solutions that promote sustainability as well as your profitability. The global textile industry is becoming increasingly forward-thinking, and our products—which are produced from recycled PET water bottles—reinforce that fact in powerful ways. We are saving millions of bottles from landfill and marine waste streams every year, in an effort to help the textile industry help the planet.

Preparation

Textile preparation enables subsequent processing of the material, which needs to be prepared to accept dyes and functional chemicals. This is done in a multi-step process. Exactly which steps the fabric goes through depends on the type, or blend of fiber, and how it will be treated afterwards. In some cases pre-treated fabrics are manufactured for later garment dyeing.

Dyeing

In the dyeing process, textiles must undergo fixation and washing steps before and after the dyeing process. The most common way to print a fabric in full width is to use pigment prints, where the pigments stick to a surface using polymeric resin or a binder. No washing processes are needed. For garment printing , plastisol printing is very common and often uses acrylates or polyurethanes.

Denim Finishing

Denim finishing is normally carried out after weaving. It takes an important role in fabric properties, appearance, softness and residual fabric shrinkage. The finishing of denim fabric is carried out for several purposes. Finishing of denim fabric can be varied according to the specific requirement of customer. The finishing process may vary from harsh hand (loom state), soft hand (desizing) and sulphur over dyeing.

DENIM FINISHING PRODUCTS

Finishing

Textile finishing is all about adding special technical properties or an aesthetic appeal to the finished fabric. Depending on the properties desired, such as flame retardance, enhanced water resistance, antibacterial treatment, protective coatings or specific fashion treatments, a diverse range of chemicals are used.

FINISHING PRODUCTS

Flame Retardants

Flame retardants are applied in the textile finishing process and can come in the form of:

  • Halogenated flame retardants
  • Non-halogenated flame retardants
